An international professional body of town planners with over 27,000 members, the Royal Town Planning Institute are responsible for maintaining professional standards and accrediting world class planning courses.
Perceptions of urban planning amongst young adults (16-25) shows they lack understanding around the positive role planning has on their communities. RTPI hoped to make town planning a desirable career path. RTPI wanted us to design and develop a new micro-site and campaign identity that would appeal to a younger audience and showcase inspiring projects and planners.
The Vision
The aim for this project was to make the micro-site appealing for a younger audiences and to lead to interest in the topic of town planning. The topic in it’s self was stark and could be viewed as bland. As a team we saw the opportunity to make something that screamed character and vibrancy, this meant we could play with colour, Illustrations and animation to keep interest and intrigue a constant factor while navigating the website.
The outcome
To make NGA’s site more modern and accessible, I with the team created a warm and playful brand identity. Looking forward, we in-built functionality to allow them to self-build coherent content through the use of templates. In addition, the navigation system was restructured and streamlined the filters within, so information on NGA’s training offering was easier to find.
